a crack at oil

Balloon Festival
#4

Sudio scene after the kiddo's were tucked in bed and the husband was stashed away in the basement. No, I didn't lock him down there, he has been tinkering away (working on the electrical wiring). Of course doing this when's not working on the 4Runner or actual "work, work" of course:)
...

I am up to #4 pieces now in the world of oil painting. It's hard to find the time, but when I do am I most happy to have mellowed out in filling the silence of a blank canvas.

Today felt long enough but after cleaning up dinner I decided to paint. I had cleaned up my "studio" area this evening so I had this blank canvas on my mind. Once I got going I was done before I knew it. This will be Nathan's Valentines Day present. I had him in mind while putting oil and brush to canvas...hence the red (his favorite color).

#2 - "Envy"

...

Nathan wanted something contemporary and while I don't know what in the world I am doing, this was a good start. I would like to take a class as I feel there is a lot to learn about the medium. I don't even think that I know how to clean up properly! Maybe one day. For now I think the self taught method is working out.

p.s. #1 and #3 are not posted as Nathan took these for office at work. HA!

I like the paintings! Looks like your doing just fine on the self taught method! But I'm glad someone told you about cracking windows though :)
