Our new raised bed garden is in! I'm so excited to have this gem in our yard. I had already planted 2 tomato plants and a squash before leaving for the beach, thinking that we'd be waiting another year to tackle this project. I can almost taste the tomatoes; my main love of a summer vegtable garden. Now that we are no longer near Hank and my Dad we don't receive brown paper sacks filled with their overflowing yield.
Picked this spot for 6+ hours of daily sun. I think it will also be a neat spot for us all to peek over the deck and for the kids to walk down and visit our veggies.
Nathan had to move a lot of clay dirt...aspirin + beer for this job.
The box is built with 2' x 12's but Nathan dug down into the ground to make it study and level. Here he's adding the veggie soil + food.
Waiting to be planted!
It's done....and it's dark out :)
We planted: 3 different varieties of tomato plants, bell peppers, sweet banana peppers, & a zuccini squash (per Hank's suggestion of only one because it will take over, choke, and crowd the rest of our garden)!
Nathan admiring his work & I'm admiring the spot we chose. I think it looks perfect here!

It looks great! A nice reminder that we need to get our plants in the ground...we love fresh veggies, and Mykenzi loves going out to water the garden and checks daily for growth.
I love raised beds. I did a few last year and might put in a couple more this year- give a garden a great look... I'll post pictures once I get my vegie and herb gardens "up to snuff"... Happy Planting!! A. Valerie
Love the raised bed and the spot you chose! Would love to do one of these in our yard...if only my picky boys ate veggies! Neither Brian nor Trenton will eat a single veggie!
