LAST Parade & Chicken Races

On our last morning in Louisiana we attended yet another Mardi Gras parade, ate on the house at Maddies Truck Stop, and participated in the kids Chicken races. It was the perfect way to tucker out the kids and have full bellies, before hitting the road to GA.

Harrison on the look out for the parade to start.

Hailey get ready!

Whoa, those are big beads.

No better way to pass the time then to snack on a cracklin.

Harrison prepared to collect some beads and treats, with his box in hand.

Here they come (policemen on 4 wheelers with sirens)...the start of the parade!

This was the first boat that we saw in a parade.

Harrison loved this little mardi gras joker.

"Special Treat" ~ Harrison enjoying a dum dum. Whenever they would throw candy he would say "special treat Mommy" because at home whenever Daddy sneaks Harrison a cookie or candy I say "Oh Harrison, that's a special treat"!

....

Lunch time! Maddie's gave out - Jambalaya rice, chicken, pork, a slice of bread, sweet potatoes and cupcakes.

Hailey fending for herself, she grabbed a piece of a drumstick off my plate!

....

Chicken Races! Harrison entered the 1-3 yr. race. Object: Catch the chicken by the leg!

Here he is observing...

Ok, he's got the idea.

He's off...but seeing that it was his first time he didn't catch the chicken by the leg.

WOW--what a funfilled week you had!! But you missed the snow in Georgia-- maybe you'll see some on the way home as Alabama had 4 inches I heard--more than we had here in Shepherdstown, WV ( wrong side of the mountain for the storm).
